Auto Repair FAQs | Ron’s Toy Shop Manchester NH

Have questions about maintaining your vehicle?

At Ron’s Toy Shop in Manchester, NH, our ASE-certified technicians are here to help you understand what your car needs, why it matters, and how to keep it running safely and efficiently for years to come.

We proudly service all makes and models using top-tier brands you already trust — Valvoline, Mobil 1, and AAA batteries, all backed by nationwide warranties for your peace of mind.

Are New Hampshire state inspections really going away?

Yes — as of now, NH state inspections are scheduled to end at the end of January 2026. While the state may no longer require an annual inspection, we believe you can’t put a price on safety. That’s why Ron’s Toy Shop will continue performing complimentary courtesy inspections with every service. Our goal is to help you catch potential problems early — before they become expensive repairs or safety hazards.

How often should I change my oil?

We recommend:

  • Full synthetic oil: every 5,000 miles
  • Conventional oil: every 3,000 miles

We use Valvoline and Mobil 1 premium oils for exceptional engine protection. There’s no such thing as changing your oil too often, but there is such a thing as not changing it enough. Regular oil changes keep your engine clean, lubricated, and running efficiently — extending its life and saving you money long-term.

Do you perform tire rotations and alignments?

Absolutely. Tire rotation and wheel alignment are two of the most important — and often overlooked — maintenance services.

  • Tire Rotation: every 5,000–6,000 miles to promote even tread wear and maximize tire life.
  • Wheel Alignment: once a year or whenever you notice your car pulling to one side, uneven tire wear, or after hitting a pothole or curb.

Proper alignment keeps your vehicle driving straight, reduces tire wear, and improves fuel economy — all while keeping your steering precise and safe.

Why does general maintenance matter so much?

Routine maintenance is the key to vehicle longevity. Simple services like fluid changes, filter replacements, brake checks, and inspections help identify issues early — before they cause breakdowns or major expenses. Think of maintenance as insurance for your car’s lifespan — small, regular investments that keep it reliable for years to come.

We also check things like belts, hoses, and wiper blades, ensuring every part of your vehicle is ready for whatever New Hampshire weather throws at it.

How long do car batteries last?

On average, a vehicle battery lasts about five years, though that can vary with driving habits, weather, and vehicle type. We’re proud to install AAA-branded batteries, which come with a nationwide replacement warranty — meaning if you ever have battery trouble while traveling, you can get a free replacement at any participating AAA service center.

We test your battery’s performance during every courtesy inspection to make sure it’s holding charge and ready for all seasons. If your vehicle struggles to start, lights dim, or accessories run slower, it may be time to replace it before you’re left stranded.
